when I read it in press.I think that the subtleties that you aldlue to with regards questioning rather than stating what good' design is gets to the heart of what I think works as a discourse on design.By questioning you reveal a vulnerability and show the reader that you too are participating in something that is a journey or process, rather than a clinical end result. The mess is great, because the mess is real. I live in Amsterdam, in the red light district. It's the oldest part of the city, and I'm very fortunate to live in a beautiful apartment on a canal. I share my street with strippers, sex shops, the Hemp Museum, bad bars, dickhead tourists, funny tourists, buskers, mums and dads with kids and ducks love the ducks. If I edited out all of this noise, took a photo of my beautiful little apartment and put it in a lifestyle magazine, it would not be out of place. But the reality is, what makes this place so special is all that goes with it. The street life and the noise. I'll live there for a while a couple of years if I'm lucky. Then I'll move on.Because I live my life like that. It's a journey and a process after all.By the way, loved your words.
